Catrin Lewis, soprano, was raised in Aberystwyth and read music at Jesus College, Oxford where she played the piano and the violin, before completing the vocal MMus course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
Roles on the opera stage include Pamina The Magic Flute , Gretel Hansel and Gretel , Adele Die Fledermaus , Amahl Amahl and the Night Visitors , Miss Pinkerton The Old Maid and the Thief , Despina Cosi fan Tutte , L'enfant L'enfant et les sortileges , First Boy The Magic Flute , Miles The Turn of the Screw , and Sandman and Dewfairy Hansel and Gretel . She has also sung the role of Lily Lily and Bear for Irrational Theatre’s children’s show.
Since 2018, Catrin has discovered a love for G&S and has performed several roles in quick succession. Her G&S roles to date include:
Josephine H.M.S Pinafore, Rose Maybud Ruddigore, Yum Yum & Peep
Bo The Mikado, Mabel & Kate The Pirates of Penzance, Phyllis & Celia Iolanthe, and Saphir Patience.
Catrin has sung in the chorus for both British Youth Opera and Garsington Opera and she is a former Cooper Hall Emerging Artist. In addition to performing on the concert and opera stage, Catrin has a keen interest in bringing music to the wider community. As a member of The Leading Ladies, she is an alumna of Live Music Now, and together with pianist Louisa Lam she currently performs for Lost Chord, a charity facilitating concerts for those living with dementia. She also brings music into the workplace through her work with Music in Offices.
